What Will You Learn?

There’s a lot of information circulating out there. This MasterClass series will consolidate the most important data, resources, and clinical techniques from today’s leading ketamine treatment experts. In planning this series, we made sure to avoid the trap of teaching just one modality or methodology. Instead, we’re presenting a broad range of focused topics, as well as the legal realities of running a ketamine clinic. Dr. Jason Wallach obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of the Sciences, where he is also currently an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Wallach also has an appointment to the Substance Use Disorders Institute at University of the Sciences and an adjunct appointment at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. He also advises several pharmaceutical companies in drug development and leads several drug discovery projects. Dr. Wallach has over a decade of research experience investigating N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) antagonists and 5-HT2A receptor agonists. His research interests include the chemistry and pharmacology of dissociative and psychedelic drugs, where he has authored many peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.

Dr. Nazeer is a practicing psychiatrist with board certifications in both Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. As the Chief Medical Officer for a national comprehensive Opioid Treatment Program, Symetria Recovery, he oversees 15 facilities scattered throughout the United States. In 2016, he established Advanced Psychiatric Solutions (APS Ketamine), pioneering the first dedicated outpatient psychiatric-based ketamine clinic in the Midwest. APS Ketamine, with locations in Oak Brook, IL, and downtown Chicago, has successfully completed over 2500 IV ketamine infusions. Offering a wide array of services, APS Ketamine provides pharmacogenetic testing, psychiatric medication management, neurocognitive testing, IV ketamine, and intranasal esketamine. Dr. Nazeer currently spearheads a research study evaluating the effects of ketamine on Neurocognition. As one of the early members of the American Society of Ketamine Physicians, Practitioners, and Psychotherapists (ASKP3), he is actively involved within the organization. Dr. Nazeer is a speaker in the fields of addiction, ketamine therapy, and pharmacogenetics, both locally and nationally. He has held medical director and leadership positions in various healthcare settings, beginning with his training at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LA, when he was elected Chief Resident. Dr. Nazeer then went on to lead the PTSD clinic at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center for a year, before moving on to private group practices and hospital work. Dr. Sandhya Prashad is a board certified psychiatrist specializing in interventional modalities for treatment resistant disorders with a particular interest and expertise in ketamine therapy. She completed both medical school and psychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She has been in private practice in the Houston area since 2011 and has been utilizing intravenous ketamine since 2016. She has personally administered over 6,000 treatments with ketamine or esketamine. She is the founder and medical director of Sandhya J. Prashad, MD, Houston Ketamine Therapeutics, and Houston TMS Therapeutics. She is a founder, the former secretary and the current president of the American Society of Ketamine Physicians, Psychotherapists and Practitioners (ASKP3,) a non-profit organization dedicated to the safe and effective clinical use of ketamine. Dr. Prashad presents frequently on a national level both to the public and to other physicians regarding the use of ketamine for psychiatric disorders. She also serves on several advisory panels for ketamine related research. In addition, Dr. Prashad has been appointed as a clinical assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences where she assists in education of residents and medical students regarding the use of ketamine, esketamine and TMS in clinical practice. Phil Wolfson MD is the creator of a new psychotherapy modality based on use of the medicine ketamine—Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP).  Phil is the CEO of the non-profit Ketamine Research Foundation and directs the training of KAP practitioners through The Ketamine Training Center—now numbering over 300 practitioners across the US and internationally. He is the author of The Ketamine Papers and Noe – A Father/Son Song of Love, Life, Illness and Death.  He has been the Principal Investigator of the recently completed MAPS Phase 2 study of MDMA treatment for individuals with life-threatening illnesses. Dr. Wolfson’s work is the result of an intense, now many decades long clinical psychiatry/psychotherapy practice. He is a Founder of Progressive Therapeutics Inc. and CEO of the newly formed Awakened Medicine Foundation, a non-profit incubator for psychedelic medicines and their applications.

Phil Wolfson is a sixties activist, psychiatrist/psychotherapist, writer, practicing Buddhist and psychonaut who has lived in the Bay Area for 43 years. In the 1980s, he participated in clinical research with MDMA (Ecstasy). He has created seven patents for unique herbal medicines and ketamine. Phil was a founding member of the Heffter Research Institute.  He is a journalist and author of numerous articles on politics, transformation, psychedelics, consciousness and spirit.

 He is a graduate of Brandeis University and NYU School of Medicine.

Matthew trained as a mindfulness-based psychotherapist at Naropa University in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology.
